At last! A great iPod compatible aftermarket stereo.
This stereo is the XDM6820 by Dual. It’s a car stereo that has a detachable face. It plays CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and CDs onto which you have burned mp3 or Windows Media audio files. It also comes with a mini stereo plug (the “iPlug”) that lets you play your iPod or any other external music source (laptop, portable DVD player, whatever) through your car stereo.

Anyone who has an iPod (or similar music player) knows that playing it in your car is a nightmare. You have to either use an FM transmitter which sounds tinny and gets interference, or use a cassette adapter – but who has a tape deck in their car these days? So this unit solves your problems by letting you input your iPod directly into the stereo. All you need is a 3.5mm mini stereo cable connector (male to male – basically like the end of your earphone jack but the same on both ends). This cable is NOT included here but you can pick it up at any radioshack or similar store for a few bucks.

I’m very impressed with this unit, it has lots of high-end features for a pretty low price. I managed to install it myself but you can have it professionally installed if you’re not technically minded. It should fit in any car with a wire harness adapter and a dashboard kit, both available from most big department stores for every car type. The iPlug can be screwed on your dashboard somewhere or can be stuck on with the provided tape. Or you can just leave it loose on your glove compartment.

It has 30 radio presets, 5 equaliser settings, and has electronic skip protection to stop your music skipping on bumpy roads. A really neat feature is that if you have an mp3/wma CD stuffed with music, it will display the title of the song and artist on the bright blue display. You can play songs randomly or by artist or by album, pretty much whatever configuration you want. You can even scroll for the next song while it is currently playing.

It has 200 Watts of power, 50 Watts for each speaker, with connections for a preamp if you have one.

Overall, a very nice product. Sounds great, lets me connect my iPod and makes me a happy driver! I bought it simply for the iPlug feature but I’m very happy with all of its other features.

Absolutely impressed beyond expectations
OK, I’m really picky, and would never consider a low-end unit for myself. I got this because of the great reviews to replace a car stereo in our old minivan that is mostly for shuttling the kids, and my wife who can’t tell the difference between a tin-can with a string attached and a $1000+ setup. So, although I wanted something better than a $30 rig from WalMart, I didn’t actually care if it was only one notch up from that.

Boy was I blown away by the quality of this unit! So blown away that I ordered a second unit and replaced my $500+ Eclipse head unit that was in my car… Really! The sound is equal to my $500 unit – the max sound level output is also high, and the unit looks really nice. The antiskip (big deal where I live) is a million times better than my Eclipse was – that plus the iplug closed me out. The only downgrade I sufered swapping from my Eclipse was the brand logo.

If you buy this unit, you will not be sorry. I think it is, without a doubt, the best value purchase I’ve bought in a LOOOOOONG time… They could easily sell this for three times the price and it would be priced properly. (Did I mention I make my living pricing electronics??)

If you’re shopping around right now, just stop, buy this, and spend the rest of the time doing something you enjoy. You will never find anything this good under $150. Even a used unit on ebay you won’t be able to match $80 for this quality.

PS – the brightness thing is NOT as big a deal as some would make you think. I live in rural Hawaii – there is zero ambient light at night, and I have no issue with this causing a distraction (actually, it looks cool!)

Gave me my iPod back !!!!!!
Yay! I’ve had an iPod for about four months and finally got some music out of it. Not because of the iPod, but because I only had a FM transmitter (Belkin Tunecast II). As probably everyone knows by now, FM transmitters are $40 tangles of frustration.

After many hours of research, I went out and got this XDM6820 receiver because it was the ONLY car MP3 player one out there that had an aux input and a sub output, in this price range. I had it professionally installed and am now the proud owner of a ’05 Matrix that plays CDs, MP3 CDs, iPod, my friend’s iRiver AND can play audio out of any dvd player or laptop.

Great Speaker. Terrible Amazon packaging.
This speaker is great. No doubt about it. But, please know that if you plan on ordering this from Amazon, it will arrive in the typical Amazon box and the internal protection will be paper wrapping. The Amazon box was so overly large that the the paper inside offered no protection whatsoever. The Def Tech box had a big dent in the corner from being dropped. Yes, UPS dropped it, but if Amazon took any care in its packaging, it wouldn’t have been a problem.

C/L/R 2500
This center channel brought my HT to a new level with the BP7002 speakers to go with it. The sub in the center realy brings out a lot of low frequencies that are center specific. I couldnt hear as many details with my klipsch center that cost me over 400.00. It has nice highs and mids also. Little sounds are much more pronounced now.

The one center channel to rule them all
I have had a C/L/R 2500 as my center channel for a decade now, and have nothing but good things to say about it. The size of the speaker makes it a challenge to incorporate into a living space, especially a smaller city flat or apartment, but the sound it puts out is so crisp and gorgeous that the space issues are well worth it.

Definitive Technology make two different types of speakers: small, space-saving speakers that blend well into most any room, and huge monsters that are difficult to incorporate into a living space, but put out monster sound. The C/L/R 2500 obviously falls into the huge, beautiful-sounding monster category. If space is at a premium, Def-Tech’s high end line is not for you. But if you want to hear every bit of dialog from your movies crisply and clearly, and enjoy thunderous explosions from the action scenes, step up to Def-Tech.

Def-Tech’s high-end line is built on the premise that even though low-end sounds will pass through solid objects, they still sound better when they emanate from where the rest of the sound source is coming from as well. In other words, one subwoofer won’t cut it: you should have a subwoofer for each speaker in your surround sound system. And while you’re at it, why not have them built into your speaker?

The C/L/R 2002 has a 150-watt sub built *in* to the speaker (hence the size). It means you have to run a power cord to it, but you’re already running speaker cable to it. The sub has a control knob on it so you can control how much oomph you want in your bass. Important bit of tweakability, that.

The sound from the mid-range and highs is crisp, clear and impressive. While not a bi-polar speaker like Definitive Technology BP7002 120v Tower Speaker (Single, Right Channel, Black), but that also means that you can place this in a more confined space with the front speakers facing out. The C/L/R is good enough to be the main speakers for most systems, and when combined with Def Tech’s other offerings, it makes for one heck of a surround sound experience.

Excellent FM transmitter for iPods
The Griffin Roadtrip is by far the best iPod FM transmitter I’ve tried. It’s easy to use and has a great extender that can be adjusted and angled to fit your car’s space properly. Above all else, the audio quality is excellent. The signal was able to override any halfway fuzzy radio station I tried, and never once faded or distorted as so many other FM transmitters do. I bought one 4 years ago and have used it continuously every day, and replaced it with another one when that one finally wore out. If you don’t have an auxiliary input in the car, this is probably the best alternative you can find.

Wonderful Device but NOT for Ipod Touch
This is a great FM transmitter. Very nice quality! Unfortunately it will not charge my new late 2009 iPod Touch . . .it will transmit, however, and the sound is great. I had absolutely no problem setting it up! The paperwork included says it is compatible with 3rd generation iPod and iPod mini. This is an awesome deal if you have one of those! Just sorry I couldn’t use it.

Surprisingly good for the very low cost
This is the first iPod transmitter that I’ve ever tested, and I must say that I’m happy with it… especially considering that I paid a total of $12.27 including tax and shipping.

That being said, I read all the reviews for all of the transmitters first, and every single one had users who both loved the product or hated something about it. It always seemed to be case by case. So I opted to try this particular transmitter due to the price.

The setup was very easy. You just plug it into your car lighter receptacle and then tune the transmitter to the FM frequency that you choose on your car radio. Attach the iPod to the transmitter, press play, and you’re done!

The frequency that you choose on your radio will determine whether or not there will be static interference. The music played crisply and clearly regardless of the radio station that was selected. However, depending on the station, sometimes there was an underlying static drone that could be heard in between songs. Once you find the right frequency, this problem is pretty much eliminated. (That was my experience anyway.)

I would recommend that you try this transmitter. It does a good job, and you can’t lose based on the price. Even the more expensive transmitters seem to be hit or miss, so it’s worth a try.

This Charger will not work with iPhone 3Gs
I bought this because the item description specifically stated that it would work with the iPhone 3G. The charger is reasonably priced and it shipped quickly – but it doesn’t work with the iPhone 3Gs. When connected I get an error message and neither the wall unit or car adapter will charge the iPhone. From doing some further searching on the internet, I found that Apple has apparently changed the method of charging from the firewire (12V) pins on the docking connector to the USB power (5V) pins and also requires that the USB data sense pins have the correct voltage as well. The bottom line is that most of the adapters originally made for the iPod or earlier versions of the iPhone are not compatible with the iPhone 3Gs.

Does not work for iPhone 3GS
I bought this charger for my new iPhone 3GS, but my phone would not recognize it as an approved charger. However, my wife is able to use it for her iPhone 3G. I don’t believe she has had a problem.

Wall adapter not compatable with iPhone
The plug in wall adapter that came in the kit is not compatable with the iPhone. When the USB cable is plugged into the wall adapter and the iphone the iphone displays an error that it is not a compatable accessory. This adapter is also different than the picture of the adapter on this Amazon site. I suspect it is an old version that was not tested with the iPhone 3Gs.

The car adapter works fine.

I got another wall adapter and it works fine with the USB cable from this kit.

Great product and better service, no thanks to Fed Ex though.
The floor stands work perfectly and the service I received from Ritz Camera was out of this world. They even sent me two sets because Fed Ex treated the package like a pinata. Even the second set they had sent was missing half the components and looked as though it was resealed. Great product, awesome store, crappy parcel service.

Stands
The stands are alright but with the JBL SCS speakers it made them a little top heavy to it leans. I have to have them next to the couch so that they dont fall over.

This thing can shine through thick stock postcards, works excellent. Doesnt overheat. Lights up all parts evenly, portable and takes very little space on your table. Great price too.

This One’s the Best
If you want this size, buy this one – and from this seller. It has two color-corrected lamps. Bright enough to light up my work, and light up the rest of my office as well! I compared them all, and this seller gives you the most for your money.

Be aware that there are larger sizes from Gagne (Porta-Trace), if that’s what you need, and you can pay several times the price for the big ones.

For home use, however, you can’t beat this one.

Does what it should
This is a nice low cost option for buying a dual link DVI cable. It is plenty long for most installations and the quality is very good. I use it with an HP LP3065 and the visual quality is excellent (at 2560×1600) – I’ve used it with both my MacBook Pro and also with my desktop PC equipped with an older NVidia 8800 GTS 512. This extra cable allows me to hook up both machines to the single monitor and easily switch back and forth between machines. I can’t detect any visual quality difference between this cable and the one that is 3x as expensive and that came with the HP monitor. That’s a winner in my book.

Would highly recommend this cable for the price.

As a bit of an aside – make sure that you really need THIS cable. Dual link cables are required for high resolution monitors and most people simply don’t need a dual link cable. The dual link DVI pins provide an increase of speed and signal quality, allowing for greater resolutions. A DVI single link 60-Hz LCD can display a resolution of 1920 x 1200, while a DVI dual link can display a resolution of 2560 x 1600. If you are running 1920 x 1200 or less, save some money and buy a single link cable. I didn’t know that until I actually needed the dual link, so I figured I’d mention it here just in case.

Solid, work well
Couldn’t find anything better for the price. Used them to hook two 21.5″ monitors to a card. Feel solid, cable flexes without feeling flimsy and everything snaps in. This type of item should really just plain work – leaving you to focus on other stuff – and it does.

Long, sleek, black and…
damn sexy!!! That is what you get with this cable. On a serious note you cannot beat this price for a cable. It looks and feels well made… Not wimpy, cheap and thin like those other ones. And the gold plating is something to swoon over like a jewel in the Nile. With the money I saved with this cable, I was able to afford a new second monitor for my new system build.

Imagine building a new high end system that can control Nasa’s Control Center with the new Sapphire Radeon HD 5970 and only have one monitor because the second monitor’s cable is too short. It brings shivers down my spine just thinking about it… The horror, the horror…
